Frontpage Authentication Problems
The first thing you should determine is if Internet Explorer regards the web site as an Internet site or a Local Intranet site. Just visit the web
site in your browser and look at the icon in the lower right of the browser
window.

As you can see, my browser considers the web site to be a
Local Intranet site and displays
the Local Intranet graphic.
Therefore it uses its Local Intranet security
settings. You can view your security settings by selecting Tools and then
Internet Options from Internet Explorer’s program menu. Then click the
Security tab which shows you the Internet
and Local Intranet web content
zones. Select the correct zone and then click the Custom Level… button to
display the security settings shown below:

The User Authentication / Logon section effects how
Frontpage authenticates with the web server to open a web. You can experiment with
different selections here to try to solve your problem. I recommend trying the “Prompt
for user name and password” selection so that you can be sure Frontpage
uses the username and password you specify.
