What Is A
Cookie
A cookie is a text file that is
stored on your computer. This text file temporarily stores a small amount of
data. A cookie helps the web server to identify which browser has made a request
for a web page.
How To
Enable Cookies In Internet Explorer
In Internet Explorer 5.0, select
"Tools" from the menu (or press ALT + T) and then select "Internet Options...",
the very last submenu item. Next click on the "Security" tab. You should see a
dialog box that looks like Figure 1:

Make sure the "Internet" icon is
selected and then click the "Custom Level..." Button. You should now see a
dialog box that looks like Figure 2. Make sure the "Allow per-session cookies
(not stored)" option is set to "Enable".

In Internet Explorer 6.0, select
"Tools" from the menu (or press ALT + T) and then select "Internet Options...",
the very last submenu item. Next click on the "Privacy" tab. You should see a
dialog box that looks like Figure 3:

When the privacy preferences is set
to High your browser does not accept any cookies. You will have to lower the
setting to "Medium". See Figure 4:

How To
Enable Cookies In Netscape Communicator
In Netscape Communicator, select
"Edit" from the menu (ALT + E) and then select "Preferences..." which is the
last submenu item listed. Select "Advanced" in the Category tree view to the
left. This step is slightly tricky because you must highlight "Advanced" itself
and not one of its branches. See Figure 5 below:

Click the radio button "Accept all
cookies" to enable cookies for this browser. See Figure 6 below:

How To Enable
Cookies In Netscape 6.1
In Netscape 6.1, select "Edit" from
the menu (ALT + E) and then select "Preferences..." which is the last submenu
item listed. Expand "Privacy and Security" in the Category tree view to the
left. Then select the "Cookies" option. See Figure 7 below:

How To
Enable Cookies On A Mac
In Internet Explorer on the
Macintosh, select "Edit" from the menu and then select "Preferences...". Expand
the "Receiving Files" option and then select the "Cookies" option. See Figure 8
below:

In Netscape Communicator on the
Macintosh, select "Edit" from the menu and then select "Preferences...". Select
the "Advanced" option so that it is highlighted. See Figure 9 below:
